The latest edition to the Melly Teddy Ragdoll Family is Rainbow Unicorn, who was inspired and designed for my little girl, who loves unicorn’s and her favorite colour is rainbow.  She squealed with glee when I presented her with the finished boy unicorn, and now I need to hurry up and finish the girl for her.

Size: approx 46 cm (18 inches) from the top of the head to the toes.

Skill: Easy to Intermediate – stitches will range from easy to slightly more advanced – but I have links to photo tutorials in the pattern if you need help.

What you will crochet: A rainbow unicorn with lightly stuffed head, hands and feet, flat ears and a flat body, a cross between a soft toy and a lovey blanket.  The pattern includes instructions for both the girl and the boy.

  • 50g Vinnis Colours Nikkim DK 100% cotton (A)
  • 50g Vinnis Colours Nikkim DK 100% cotton (B)
  • 80g Vinnis Colours Nikkim DK 100% cotton (C)
  • 5g Vinnis Colours Nikkim DK 100% cotton (D)
  • 5g Vinnis Colours Nikkim DK 100% cotton (E)
  • 5g Vinnis Colours Nikkim DK 100% cotton (F)
  • 5g Vinnis Colours Nikkim DK 100% cotton (G)
  • 5g Vinnis Colours Nikkim DK 100% cotton (H)

  • 100g stuffing
  • Small amount of black embroidery thread or yarn for the nostril

Vinnis Colours Nikkim 100% Cotton Yarn, which is colourfast and made in South Africa.  DK / Light Worsted – 119m/50g (130/1.75oz), recommended hook size: 4mm (USA G-6).  The yarn is hand dyed and balled by women from an economically depressed rural area of South Africa.  The sale of the product has empowered ad brought economic benefits to their community.  Hand dyed yarn gives your garment a unique marbled effect.
