DRAGON ROSE WRAP
The Dragon Rose Wrap is a paid crochet along co hosted by CAL – Crochet A Long
I am super super excited to (at long last) release the Dragon Rose Wrap, a design I started last year which was especially designed for my sister. The wrap is feminine and modern and perfect for in between weather. It is asymmetrical and shaped like a Dragon’s wing, and covered in delicate roses.
There are loads of photos with step by step instructions, and a video of how to make the roses. Once you have purchased the pattern you will receive each part on the release date of each section, sent to your Ravelry Library. The pattern is discounted by 50% whilst the CAL is running, so it will cost you $3.50 (the price will be $7.00 once the CAL is finished).

TENSION, GAUGE & FINISHED SIZE
- If you have purchased a kit or are using the same yarn, then it is important that you match my tension and gauge, otherwise you will not have enough yarn.
- 10 cm down = 12 double crochet rows – 10 cm across = 18 double crochet stitches.
- If you are using your own yarn, you DO NOT need to match my tension and gauge; however, you need to keep your tension the same throughout the project.
- My wrap is approximately 107 cm / 42 inches in length and approximately 194 cm / 76 inches in width.
- I made 7 tassels – one for each point of the shawl. There are detailed instructions to make the tassels in PART 6.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW
- In order to keep the dragon wing look, I found that I needed to make a loose chain 3 on the side I increase (curved side of the wrap – keeps the gentle curve), and chain 2 on the straight side – I chain 2 on the straight side to prevent those little gaps from forming.
- When working the rows for the “leaves” and “rosebuds”, the pattern will instruct you to work with the front side of your wrap facing you, you will know that you have the right side of your wrap facing you if the straight edge is on your left-hand side and the curved edge is on your right-hand side.
- I make a chain after I make a 3trcl stitch (this chain does not count towards the following chain count) so if the instruction says chain 4 after a 3trcl you chain 5 in total.
- I have clear, step by step instructions for this pattern with loads of clear photos to help you with the roses/leaves and they are not nearly as difficult to make as they look.
NOTES & TIPS
- My pattern uses US terminology.
- Crochet skill level – confident beginner/intermediate.
- I have also included helpful hints along the way, which are in “italics”, and for the trickier bits there are short video clips.
- I use standing stitches when I work; if you are not comfortable with making one, then you can replace it with a slip knot and the required number of chains (i.e. chain 3 for dc, chain 2 for hdc).
- *.* / **.** indicates a repeat of a combination of stitches by the given number of times.
- Use your stitch marker as often as you can, to help with stitch counting and have FUN.
