Part 5
SUN – BOTH
Make one for each ragdoll. Using colour (DAFFODIL), make a magic circle.
Helpful hint: we are working in rounds.
Round 1
Ch 1 (does not count as a st), sc 12 into mc, ss into 1st st (12 sc).
Round 2
Ch 1 (does not count as a st), hdc 2 into same st, *hdc 2 into next* rep *.* 10 more times, ss into 1st st (24 hdc).
Round 2
*Ch 4, sc into 2nd ch from hook, hdc into next ch, dc into next ch, sk next 2 sts (from round 2), ss into next st* rep *.* 7 more times, ss into 1st st (8 points {sc, hdc, dc per point}), cut yarn leaving a 45 cm tail.
Helpful hint: we will use the tail to attach the sun to the body in Part 6.
CLOUDS – BOTH
Make two for each ragdoll. Using colour (PORCELAIN) ch 9.
Helpful hint: we are working in rounds.
Row 1
Sc 3 into 2nd ch from hook, sc into next 6 chs, sc 3 into next ch (working down the opposite side of the chs), sc into next 6 chs, ss into 1st st (18 sc).
Row 2
Ch 1 (does not count as a st), sc into same st, dc 5 into next st, sc into next st, dc 5 into next st, *sk next st, sc into next st, sk next st, dc 5 into next st* rep *.* 2 more times, sk next 2 sts, ss into 1st st (5 sc, 5 x 5 dc shells), cut yarn leaving a 20 cm tail which we will use to attach the clouds to the blanket in the next section.
RAINBOW – BOTH
Make one for each ragdoll, using (PURPLE HDRANGEA), ch 11.
Helpful hint: we are working in rows so DO NOT turn your work at the end of each row.
Row 1
Sc into 2nd ch from hook, sc into same st, *sc into next ch, sc 2 into next ch* rep *.* 3 more times, sc into next st (15 sc), cut yarn leaving a 20 cm tail.
Helpful hint: we will use the tail end to attach the bottom part of the rainbow to the body in Part 6.
Row 2
Helpful hint: do not turn your work after each row, work from the same side for the entire rainbow applique.
Using colour (SWEET PEA), join with a ss into 1st st from previous round, ch 1 (does not count as a st, sc into same st, sc into next st, *sc 2 into next st, sc into next 2 sts* rep *.* 3 more times, sc 2 into next st (20 sc), cut yarn and weave in ends.
Row 3
Using colour (FORGET-ME-NOT), join with a ss into 1st st from previous round, ch 1 (does not count as a st, sc 2 into same st, sc into next 3 sts, *sc 2 into next st, sc into next 3 sts* rep *.* 3 more times (25 sc), cut yarn and weave in ends.
Row 4
Using colour (HONEYDEW MELON), join with a ss into 1st st from previous round, ch 1 (does not count as a st, sc into same st, sc into next 3 sts, *sc 2 into next st, sc into next 4 sts* rep *.* 3 more times, sc 2 into next st (30 sc), cut yarn and weave in ends.
Row 5
Using colour (DAFFODIL), join with a ss into 1st st from previous round, ch 1 (does not count as a st, sc 2 into same st, sc into next 5 sts, *sc 2 into next st, sc into next 5 sts* rep *.* 3 more times (35 sc), cut yarn and weave in ends.
Row 6
Using colour (APRICOT), join with a ss into 1st st from previous round, ch 1 (does not count as a st, sc into same st, sc into next 5 sts, *sc 2 into next st, sc into next 6 sts* rep *.* 3 more times, sc 2 into next st (40 sc), cut yarn and weave in ends.
Row 7
Using colour (CHERRY BLOSSOM), join with a ss into 1st st from previous round, ch 1 (does not count as a st, sc into same st, sc into next 39 sts (40 sc), cut yarn leaving a 40 cm tail.
Helpful hint: we will use the tail end to attach the top part of the rainbow to the body in Part 6.
FLOWER – GIRL
Make one. Using colour (PURPLE HYDRANGEA ), chain 26.
Row 1
Dc 3 into 3rd ch from the hook (1st chs count as dc st), *sc into next ch, dc 4 into next ch*, rep *.* 10 more times, sc into last ch (12 sc, 12 x 4 dc shells), cut yarn leaving a 35 cm tail. You can weave in the starting tail.
Helpful hint: start with the beginning part of the rose, roll each shell around each other, stitching the shells together at the bottom of the rose, leaving a tail to attach to the head in Part 6.
LEAF – GIRL
Make two. Using colour (HONEYDEW MELON ), chain 6.
Row 1
Sc into 2nd ch from hook, hdc into next ch, dc into next 2 chs, [dc 3, (ch 3, ss into 1st ch), dc 3] into last ch, (working back along the other side of the chs) dc into next 2 chs, hdc into next ch, sc into next ch, ss into 1st st, cut yarn leaving a 25 cm tail.
Helpful hint: we will attach the leaf to the head in Part 6.
