TOES/FINGERS

Make twelve. Using colour (DUNES), chain 10.

Helpful hint: we are working in rows so turn at the end of each row.

Row 1

Helpful hint: work into the back bump/bar of the chains for a neat start – if you do not know how to use this technique then check out the link in the abbreviations section of the pattern Preamble.

Sc into 2^nd ch from hook, sc into back bump/bar of next 8 chs (9 sc).

Row 2

Ch 1 (does not count as a st), sc BLO into same st, sc BLO into next 8 sts (9 BLO sc).

Row 3

Ch 1 (does not count as a st), sc FLO into same st, sc FLO into next 8 sts (9 FLO sc). Cut yarn leaving a 15 cm tail.

FINISHING THE TOES/FINGERS

Turn the work so that both rows of unworked stitches face you.

Fold the piece in half and using the tail end and a needle sew the side together using the inside loops of the 1^st and 3^rd row for 8 of the 9 stitches, leaving the last stitch unattached. Do not cut the tail. You can weave in the starting tail.

Helpful hint: we will use the tail to attach them to the hands and feet in Part 6. They look a bit strange now, but will turn into toes soon 😊

TUMMY

Make one. Using colour (DUNES), make a magic circle.

Helpful hint: we are working in rounds.

Round 1

Ch 1 (does not count as a st), sc 8 into mc, place st marker in 8^th sc and continue to work in the round (8 sc).

Helpful hint: move the stitch marker (or use a running marker) and place in the last stitch of each round; this will help keep your stitch count correct and help with round counting. Because we are working quite tightly in the round, I weave my starting tail in whilst working round 2.

Round 2

*Sc 2 into next st*, rep *.* 7 more times (16 sc).

Round 3

*Sc 2 into next st, sc into next st*, rep *.* 7 more times (24 sc).

Round 4

*Sc 2 into next st, sc into next 2 sts*, rep *.* 7 more times (32 sc).

Round 5
*Sc 2 into next st, sc into next 3 sts*, rep *.* 7 more times (40 sc).

Round 6

*Sc 2 into next st, sc into next 4 sts*, rep *.* 7 more times (48 sc).

Round 7

*Sc 2 into next st, sc into next 5 sts*, rep *.* 7 more times (56 sc).

Round 8

*Sc 2 into next st, sc into next 6 sts*, rep *.* 7 more times (64 sc).

Round 9

*Sc 2 into next st, sc into next 7 sts*, rep *.* 7 more times (72sc).

Round 10

Sc into next 72 sts (72 sc). Cut yarn leaving a 35 cm tail, nj into 2^nd st.

Helpful hint: we will use the tail to attach the tummy to the body in Part 6.
