EYES PATCHES

Make two. Using colour (CHESTNUT), ch 11.

Helpful hint: we are working in rounds.

Round 1

Sc 5 into 2nd ch on hook, sc into next 8 chs, sc 3 into next ch, (turn work slightly and work down the opposite side of the chs), sc into next 8 chs, ss into 1st st (24 sc).

Round 2

Helpful hint: we will end of this round using the needle join technique.  If you are not familiar with it, please refer to the instructions under the Abbreviations in the pattern Preamble.

Ch 1 (does not count as a st), hdc 2 into same st, hdc 2 into next 3 sts, sc into next 3 sts, ss into next 15 sts, sc into next 2 sts (15 ss, 5 sc, 8 hdc). Cut yarn leaving a 20 cm tail, finish with a nj.

Helpful hint: insert the safety eyes into the centre of the larger side of the eye patch.  We will attach the eyes to the head in Part 6.

 

NOSE

Make one. Using colour (MAHOGANY), chain 6.

Helpful hint: we are working in rows.

Helpful hint: work into the back bump/bar of the chains for a neat start – if you do not know how to use this technique then check out the link in the abbreviations section of the pattern Preamble.

Round 1

Sc into 2nd ch from hook, sc into back bump/bar of next 4 chs (5 sc).

Round 2

Ch 1 (does not count as a st), sc2tog (1st sc in 1st st), sc into next st, sc2tog (3 sc).

Round 3

Ch 1 (does not count as a st), sc3tog (1st sc in 1st st), cut yarn leaving a 25 cm tail.

Helpful hint: we will use the tail to attach the nose to the head in Part 6.  You can weave in your starting tail.

 

LEAVES

Make two. Using colour (PALE SAGE), chain 6.

Row 1

Sc into 2nd ch from hook, hdc into next ch, dc into next 2 sts, [dc 3, ch 3, ss into 1st ch, dc 3] into last ch, (working back along the other side of the chs) dc into next 2 chs, hdc into next ch, sc into next ch, ss into 1s st, cut yarn leaving a 25 cm tail.

Helpful hint: we will attach the leaf to the head and body in Part 6.
