ADDING THE BLUSH TO THE EARS
This is optional. Use a makeup brush and blusher to add some colour to the inside of the ears.
ATTACHING THE EARS TO THE HEAD
Pin the two ears onto the head 11 visible stitches apart. I placed my ears across rounds 29 and 30. Using the tail end from the ears, sew the ears to the head. Weave in ends.
ATTACHING THE HORN TO THE HEAD
I added a small amount of stuffing to the horn. Pin the horn onto the front centre of the head 8 visible rows counting from the change of colour for the nose. I placed the horn over rounds 21, 22 and 23. Using the tail end from the horn, sew it to the head. Weave in ends.
EMBROIDERING THE EYES
Insert a double sided 3mm knitting needle through the head 4 visible stitches from the outer edge of the ear. Count 4 stitches across and insert a pin. Do this to the other eye, then remove the knitting needle and insert a pin into the same stitch. You can draw the eye with a tailor’s pen (disappearing ink). Using deep brown or black yarn embroider the sleepy eye. Start in the space with the pin closest to the ear, then insert the needle into the space with the pin nearest the nose. Remove the pins. Insert the needle into the middle stitch (3rd) one row below but catching the yarn to attach it to the head creating the curve of the eye. Insert the needle back into the same space nearest the ear, then make the eyelashes over 1 stitch per eyelash, with 1 stitch between the two eyelashes. Push the needle through to the other side, starting in the space where the pin is closest to the ear and repeat the instructions. Carefully remove the ink from the tailor’s pen if you made use of one.
ATTACHING THE MANE TO THE HEAD
Using a tailor’s pen (disappearing ink) and a ruler, mark where you want to make the mane.
ATTACHING THE FRONT LEGS TO THE HEAD
Place the legs to either side of the head 8 visible stitches below the ear. Pin the leg to the head.
Using the tail end stitch across the top of the leg, then attach the side of the leg to the head
over the next 7 rounds. Fold to the leg backwards and attach the inside of the leg to the head.
Then return the arm to the earlier position and continue to attach the other side of the leg to
the head. Weave in ends. Repeat with 2nd leg.
JOINING THE LEGS
Cut a 20 cm piece of colour (NATURAL). Stitch the front legs together just above the hooves
on the inside of the legs. Weave in ends.
ATTACHING THE POM POMS TO THE LOVEY BLANKET
Using the tail ends of each pom pom sew one pom pom to each end of three corners. Weave in ends.
ATTACHING THE RAINBOW TO THE LOVEY BLANKET
Using the tail end of the rainbow, attach it to the 4th corner. Weave in ends.
ATTACHING THE HEAD TO THE LOVEY BLANKET
Place the lovey blanket with the wrong side facing the bottom of the head with the corner that
has the rainbow attached to it facing towards the hands. Using a 30 cm piece of yarn the same
colour as the section of the lovey blanket that you are going to attach to the head so that the
stitches are not visible. I used (PASTEL CW PRINCE BUTTERCUP) / (BRIGHT CW SUNRAY).
Sew the lovey blanket to the bottom of the head between the front legs. Thread the corner
with the rainbow through the front legs.
ADDING BLUSH TO THE CHEEKS
This is optional. Use a makeup brush and blusher to add some colour to the cheeks.
