ZOEY ZEBRA – PART

BRINGING YOUR MELLY TEDDY RAGDOLL TO LIFE

You have made all the different body parts and motifs, now to bring your Melly Teddy to life.

You do not need to follow these instructions exactly, this is just the way I like to put mine together, so it is a suggestion only – the idea is to have FUN with the design, use your imagination and make yours unique.

ATTACHING THE ARMS

Place the body flat, making sure that the increase stitches are on either side, then using the tail end from the arm, whip stitch the arm to the body starting at round 2 of the body over the next 3 – 4 rounds – I sew the front and the back of the arm to make it more stable, through a loop on the body and the FLO of the last round of the arm.  The seam should be at the bottom of the arm. Weave in end. Repeat to attach second arm.

FINISHING THE BODY

Using the starting tail, whip stitch the opening between the legs of the body. Weave in end.

ATTACHING THE LEGS

Helpful hint: there are 20 stitches on the bottom of each “leg” section of the body and 20 FLO single crochet stitches on each hindleg to join them together.

Using the tail end of the body leg, whip stitch the hindleg to the body using the 20 FLO single crochet stitches on the hindleg to the 20 FLO single crochet stitches of the body. Weave in end. Repeat to attach second leg.

ATTACHING THE HEART

Place the heart onto the body over rows 5 – 7 and sew onto the body using the tail end. Weave in ends.

FINISHING THE EYES

Using colour (WHITE) I add a small amount under each eye. You can add a little bit of makeup blush under her eyes to give her cheeks some colour, using a soft makeup brush.

This is just a suggestion, you can do whatever you like with your ragdoll – embroider the eyes, use your imagination, they are your unique creation, and I cannot wait to see all your beautiful ragdolls.

ATTACHING THE EARS TO THE HEAD

Pin the two ears onto the head on either side of the mane on a round of (BLACK). Using the tail end from the ears, sew the ears to the head. Weave in ends.

ATTACHING THE LEAVES AND ROSE

Pin the leaf to the right side of her head, just below the right ear. Using the tail end attach the bottom part of the leaf to the head, repeat with the second leaf, adding it slightly below the first leaf. Attach the rose to the head just below the two leaves. Weave in end.

FINISHING OFF THE MANE

Using a pet’s brush, brush the mane until it is nice and fluffy. Using sharp scissors cut the mane so that it is slightly shorter and even.

ATTACHING THE HEAD

I like to add the head last, because this is the most important join, and this is the last thing you do before your Melly Teddy Ragdoll comes to life; this is my favourite part. I use a disappearing ink marker to mark where I want my head to be placed, you can use stitch markers or pins to help you. Lay your body flat, and make sure that the middle of the head is exactly joined to the middle of the body, otherwise it will look funny and lie askew. So, you are working “over” the centre of the end of the head, then using the tail end from the neck, whip stitch the body to the head using the FLO of the last round of the neck on both sides, cut yarn and weave in end.

BIRTH CERTIFICATE

Now you have made your beautiful Melly Teddy Ragdoll for that special someone. You can print out his/her very own unique Birth Certificate.
