ZOEY ZEBRA – PART 5

ROSE

Make one. Using colour (PURPLE MIX ), chain 26.

Row 1

Dc 3 into 3rd ch from the hook (1st chs count as dc st), *sc into next ch, dc 4 into next ch*, rep *.* 10 more times, sc into last ch (12 sc, 12 x 4 dc shells), cut yarn leaving a 35 cm tail. You can weave in the starting tail.

Helpful hint: start with the beginning part of the rose, roll each shell around each other, stitching the shells together at the bottom of the rose, leaving a tail to attach to the head in Part 6.

LEAF

Make two. Using colour (WILLOW GREEN ), chain 6.

Row 1

Sc into 2nd ch from hook, hdc into next ch, dc into next 2 chs, [dc 3, ch 3, ss into 1st ch, dc 3] into last ch, (working back along the other side of the chs) dc into next 2 chs, hdc into next ch, sc into next ch, ss into 1st , cut yarn leaving a 25 cm tail.

Helpful hint: we will attach the leaf to the head in Part 6.

TAIL
Make one. Cut 6 strands of colour (BLACK) and 6 strands of colour (WHITE) approximately 30 cm each.

Place them all together, fold them in half and then insert your hook under a stitch on the body (where you would imagine the zebra’s behind is 😊). Use your hook to catch all the yarn strands together and pull through one side – use a larger hook as it can be tricky getting the yarn through.

You can plait the tail like the photos below. I did a bit of a weave and then left the rest of the tail loose – you can use a strand of yarn to wind around the end of the plaited section a few times, and then make a tight knot and secure the ends in. Use the pet’s brush to brush out the ends and then trim the tail to the length you would like.
