Melly Teddy Ragdoll Blossom Fairy Part 6

Melly Teddy Ragdoll Blossom Fairy Part 6

is a free crochet along.

The Melly Teddy Ragdoll Blossom Fairy Part 6 is part of a free CAL.

The Melly Teddy Ragdoll Blossom Fairy (part 6) is one of four fairies – she is the third one (her older sisters are the Harvest Fairy and the Snowfall Fairy) and she will be followed by one more sister during the course of 2021. She was created because I think we all need a little bit of magic in our lives and my little girl is thrilled to be Blossom Fairy’s new mommy. The Ragdoll is a cross between a lovey blanket and a soft toy and perfect to crochet for anyone who needs some cuddles.  Make a super cute Melly Teddy Ragdoll for that special person in your life.

They are fun and easy to make and are soft and snugly, perfect for cuddling and great yarn busters.

PATTERN – MELLY TEDDY RAGDOLL SNOWFALL FAIRY  PART 6

BRINGING YOUR MELLY TEDDY RAGDOLL TO LIFE

You have made all the different body parts and motifs, now to bring your Melly Teddy to life.

You do not need to follow these instructions exactly, this is just the way I like to put mine together, so is a suggestion only – the idea is to have FUN with the design, use your imagination and make yours unique.

ATTACHING THE ARMS/HANDS

Place the body flat, making sure that the increase stitches are on either side, then slip stitch the arm to the body between rows 2 and 5 – I slip stitch the front and the back of the arm to make it more stable.

The thumbs are facing upwards (thumbs up 😊) and the seam should be at the bottom of the arm.

ATTACHING THE BODICE AND FINISHING THE BODY

Weave in ends of the inside of the dress.  Slip stitch the ends of the leaves to the dress (I just caught the ends of the leaves to the dress).

I added a pearl bead to each of the leaves – this is optional.

Roll the rose into a spiral and slip stitch the back of the rose to secure it so that it does not unravel.

Attach the leaves to the top of the body (you can place them in any order), and then I added a rose in the middle.

FINISHING THE STRAWBERRY

Attach the leaves/stalk to the top of the strawberry and add embroider little white stitches to the outside of the strawberry.

ATTACHING THE HEART

I have attached the heart to the front of the skirt – you can place the heart wherever you want to put it.

ATTACHING THE LEGS & SHOES

Using the same colour yarn that you used for the bloomers attach the legs to the bloomers using the row above the leaves.  Fold the bloomer in half, with the “seam” to one side, slip stitch the 1st two leaves that are opposite to each other together, then attach the leg, then slip stitch the last two leaves that are opposite each other together, cut yarn and weave in ends.

Place the shoes onto the feet and slip stitch the shoes to the feet with the same colour yarn – if you prefer to have the shoes come off you can skip this part.  I added a few pearls to the shoes, this is optional.

Then slip stitch the bottom of the dress closed using the same colour yarn and attach the legs/bloomers at the same time.  Make sure that the legs are facing the right way, and that they are in the middle of the dress approximately 1 cm apart.

ATTACHING THE HAIR TO THE HEAD, ADDING THE CROWN

I place the hair onto the head about 6 – 8 rows above the eyes, I then slip stitch the hair to the head using the same colour yarn.

Twist the two vines of leaves together, and then tie the ends together, using the tails to attach the vines to the back of the head, making sure that the front of the vines section is the chain (the reason for this is that we are adding one rose to the middle of the head above the eyes).

Roll each of the roses and fasten them by slip stitching across the back of the rose.

Attach each rose to the vines over the chain section – you want the leaves to pop out between each of the roses.  I placed the roses in the following order, but you can do it anyway you like:

Colour (C) yarn in the middle directly above the eyes, then one colour (D) rose on either side of the first rose, then colour (E) on either side of the second set of roses, and then colour (F) on either side of the third set of roses, and then the one colour (G) rose in the middle at the back of the head.

I then took the hair from in front of her face and twisted them behind the roses.

ADDING THE NOSE, MOUTH AND EYELASHES.

Using the same colour as the hair, I make an eyelash above each eye, you can add eyebrows if you like, or you can embroider your eyes.

Using the same colour yarn as the face, I make a nose over 3 stitches, by going over the area with the yarn 6 to 8 times, pulling very gently – a bit like a satin stitch in embroidery.  The stiches are worked over each other and all in the same space.  I make the nose between the eyes, 1 row below the eyes.

Using some pink yarn, I do the exact same stitch for the mouth as I used for the nose, however I make 2 stitches on top of each other, 3 rows below the nose, over 3 stitches.

This is just a suggestion, you can do whatever you like with your doll – embroider her eyes, use your imagination, she is your unique creation, and I cannot wait to see all your beautiful creations.

I added some blush under her eyes.

ATTACHING THE WINGS

First place the wings the right way up, then carefully slip stitch the two wings together in the middle (by joining rows 1 together.

Then turn your doll so that the back is facing you, then place the wings with the wrong side against the doll’s back, then slip stitch along row 1 and the body of the doll by folding the wings in half.  Then go around to the other side by turning the folded wings to the other side.

I placed the wing join about a thumbs distance from the neck down, then I slip stitched the V shape that is formed under the back of the neck once the wings have been attached in the middle of the back, the reason for this is so that the wings are sturdier.

ATTACHING THE HEAD

I like to add the head last, because this is the most important join, and this is the last thing you do before your Melly Teddy Ragdoll comes to life, this is my favourite part.  I use a disappearing ink marker to mark where I want my head to be placed, you can use stitch markers or pins, to help you.  Slip stitch the neck opening, like you did the arms and the feet, then lie your body flat, and make sure that the middle of the head is exactly joined to the middle of the body, otherwise it will look funny, and lie skew.  So, you are working “over” the centre of the end of the head, then slip stitch the body to the head, on both sides, cut yarn and weave in.

Now you have made your beautiful Melly Teddy Ragdoll for that someone special, you can print out his/her very own unique Birth Certificate.
