Sleeves

Make two using colour (C) yarn loosely ch 24, leaving a long tail (to use to attach sleeves to the robe in Part 6).

Round 1

Ss into the 1st ch, forming a circle, then ch 1 (does not count as a st), dc into same st, dc into next 23 ch, ss into 1st dc (24 dc).

Round 2

Ch 1 (does not count as a st), dc into same st, dc into next 23 sts, ss into 1st dc (24 dc).

Rounds 3 – 11

Repeat round 2, ss into 1st dc (24 dc).

Round 12

Ch 1 (does not count as a st), hdc into same st, hdc into next 23 sts, ss into 1st hdc, cut yarn and weave in ends.

Helpful hint: place a stitch marker at stitch 14 and stitch 32 (over where the shoulder seams would be) so that when you do the neck edging you have the correct amount of stitches to use – you should have 46 open single crochet stitches AFTER to attach the sleeves (14, 18, 14).

Helpful hint: round 12 is the bottom of the sleeve (the open bit for the hand), so weave in the ends and then slip stitch the sleeve into the arm opening on each side of the robe, cut yarn, weave in all ends.

Border

Using colour (C) yarn, start in the first double crochet at the hem (row 1), make sure that the front of the robe is facing up.

Helpful hint: when you crochet an edging along rows done in double crochet you will place two single crochet stitches per double crochet row, and work into the stitch NOT around the stitch, it is easier to do, but will leave little holes.

Row 1 – coat edging

Ch 1, sc into same st, sc 33 sts evenly up the side, sc into next st, ch 1, sc into same st (corner), sc into next 14 sts (side), then next 18 sts (back), then next 14 sts (side), ch 1, sc into same st (corner), sc into next st, sc 34 sts evenly down the side, turn work.

Row 2 – front panel

Ch 1 (does not count as st), hdc into same sp, hdc into next 24 sts, sc into next st, ss into next st, cut yarn, weave in ends.

Lapel

Using colour (C) yarn, slip stitch the corners of side A and side B to form a lapel.

Pocket

Make two using colour (C) yarn, ch 12.

Row  1

Hdc into 2nd ch from hook, hdc into next 9 ch (10 hdc), turn work.

Row 2

Ch 1 (does not count as st), hdc into same sp, hdc into next 9 sts (10 hdc), turn work.

Rows 3 – 7

Repeat row 2, at the end of row 7 cut yarn leaving a long tail to use to attach the pocket to the lab coat.

Medical cross

Make one using colour (H) yarn.

Row 1

Ch 1, sc into 2nd ch from hook, sc into next 4 ch (5 sc).

Row 2

Ch 1 (does not count as a st), sc into same st, sc into next 4 sts (5 sc).

Rows 3 – 12

Repeat row 2 (5 sc), at the end of row 12, cut yarn, leaving a long tail to use to attach the cross to the jacket.

Make two using colour (H) yarn.

Row 1

Ch 6, sc into 2nd ch from hook, sc into next 4 ch (5 sc).

Row 2

Ch 1 (does not count as a st), sc into same st, sc into next 4 sts (5 sc).
