PATTERN – MELLY TEDDY RAGDOLL LUNA THE WITCH & ECLIPSE THE BLACK CAT

PART 3

BODY

Not stuffed

Using colour (B) yarn chain 32 and ss into the first chain to make a ring.

Helpful hint: work into the outside loop of the chain for this round, we will use the inside loop of the chain later when we are finished with the body.

Helpful hint: the chain 1 at the beginning of each row does not count as a stitch, but it is important to make the chain 1, and you will see why as we go along – it makes a nice straight seam – make the chain 1 loose otherwise the seam will “pull” up on this side.

Round 1

Ch 1 (does not count as st), dc into same ch, dc into next 14 ch, 3 dc into next ch, dc into next 15 ch’s, 3 dc into next ch, ss into 1st dc (36 dc).

Round 2

Ch 1 (does not count as st), dc into same st, dc into next 16 st, 2 dc into next st, dc into next 17, 2 dc into next st, ss into 1st dc (38 dc).

Round 3

Ch 1 (does not count as st), dc into same st, dc into next 17 sts, 2 dc into next st, dc into next 18 sts, 2 dc into next st, ss into 1st dc (40 dc).

Round 4

Ch 1 (does not count as st), dc into same st, dc into next 18 sts, 2 dc into next st, dc into next 19 sts, 2 dc into next st, ss into 1st dc (42 dc).

Round 5

Ch 1 (does not count as st), dc into same st, dc into next 19 sts, 2 dc into next st, dc into next 20 sts, 2 dc into next st, ss into 1st dc (44 dc).

Round 6

Ch 1 (does not count as st), dc into same st, dc into next 20 sts, 2 dc into next st, dc into next 21 sts, 2 dc into next st, ss into 1st dc (46 dc).

Round 7

Ch 1 (does not count as st), dc into same st, dc into next 21 sts, 2 dc into next st, dc into next 22 sts, 2 dc into next st, ss into 1st dc (48 dc).

Round 8

Ch 1 (does not count as st), dc into same st, dc into next 22 sts, 2 dc into next st, dc into next 23 sts, 2 dc into next st, ss into 1st dc (50 dc).

Round 9

Ch 1 (does not count as st), dc into same st, dc into next 23 sts, 2 dc into next st, dc into next 24 sts, 2 dc into next st, ss into 1st dc (52 dc).

Round 10

Ch 1 (does not count as st), dc into same st, dc into next 24 sts, 2 dc into next st, dc into next 25 sts, 2 dc into next st, ss into 1st dc (54 dc).

Round 11

Ch 1 (does not count as st), dc into same st, dc into next 53 sts, ss into 1st dc (54 dc).

Helpful hint: the following row is worked into the FLO and there is NO increase.

Round 12

Ch 1 (does not count as st), sc FLO into same st, sc FLO into next 53 sts, ss into 1st sc (54 sc).

Round 13

Ss into next st, ch 1 (does not count as st), sc into same st, *sk 2 sts, 9 dc into next st, sk 2 sts, sc into next st, ch 3, sts, sk 2 sts, sc into next st* rep *.* 5 more times, ss into 1st sc (12 sc, 6 x 3 ch, 6  x [9 dc] shells).

Round 14

*[Ch 1, dc into next st], rep [.] 8 more times, ch 1, sc into ch 3 sp*, rep *.* 5 more times, ch 1, ss into ch 1 sp (6 x [9 dc, 10 ch 1] shells, 6 sc).

Round 15

*Ch 1 (does not count as st), sc into same sp, [ch 3, sc into next ch sp], rep [.] 7 more times, ch 1, sk next dc and ch sp, ss into sc, ch 1, ss into next ch sp, rep *.* 5 more times, cut yarn and weave in ends (6 x [9 sc, 8 ch 3] shells, 12 ch, 12 ss).

Helpful hint: remember that you need to shift each row of shells so that the middle of the new shell appears exactly between the two shells from the previous round of shells, so I started the next round in the 3rd stitch from the 1st stitch from the beginning of the round where you made the BLO stitches.  Change to colour (D ) yarn and join using a slip stitch.

Round 16

Ch 1 (not counted as st), dc into same st, dc into next 53 sts, ss into 1st dc (54 dc).

Round 17

Ch 1 (does not count as st), dc into same st, dc into next 53 sts, ss into 1st dc (54 dc).

Helpful hint: the following row is worked into the FLO.

Round 18

Ch 1 (does not count as st), sc FLO into same st, sc FLO into next 53 sts, ss into 1st sc (54 sc).

Round 19

Ss into next st, ch 1 (does not count as st), sc into same st, *sk 2 sts, 9 dc into next st, sk 2 sts, sc into next st, ch 3, sts, sk 2 sts, sc into next st* rep *.* 5 more times, ss into 1st sc (12 sc, 6 x 3 ch, 6  x [9 dc] shells).

Round 20

*[Ch 1, dc into next st], rep [.] 8 more times, ch 1, sc into ch 3 sp*, rep *.* 5 more times, ch 1, ss into ch 1 sp (6 x [9 dc, 10 ch 1] shells, 6 sc).

Round 21

*Ch 1 (does not count as st), sc into same sp, [ch 3, sc into next ch sp], rep [.] 7 more times, ch 1, sk next dc and ch sp, ss into sc, ch 1, ss into next ch sp, rep *.* 5 more times, cut yarn and weave in ends (6 x [9 sc, 8 ch 3] shells, 12 ch, 12 ss).

Helpful hint: Remember that you need to shift each row of shells so that the middle of the new shell appears exactly between the two shells from the previous round of shells, so I started the next round in the stitch directly below the 1st st from round 12 of BLO stitches.  Change to colour (F ) yarn and join using a slip stitch.  The next set of shells will then fall in the same place as the 1st set of shells.

Round 22

Ch 1 (not counted as st), dc into same st, dc into next 53 sts, ss into 1st dc (54 dc).

Round 23

Ch 1 (does not count as st), dc into same st, dc into next 53 sts, ss into 1st dc (54 dc).

Helpful hint: the following row is worked into the FLO.

Round 24

Ch 1 (does not count as st), sc FLO into same st, sc FLO into next 53 sts, ss into 1st sc (54 sc).

Round 25

Ss into next st, ch 1 (does not count as st), sc into same st, *sk 2 sts, 9 dc into next st, sk 2 sts, sc into next st, ch 3, sts, sk 2 sts, sc into next st* rep *.* 5 more times, ss into 1st sc (12 sc, 6 x 3 ch, 6  x [9 dc] shells).

Round 26

*[Ch 1, dc into next st], rep [.] 8 more times, ch 1, sc into ch 3 sp*, rep *.* 5 more times, ch 1, ss into ch 1 sp (6 x [9 dc, 10 ch 1] shells, 6 sc).

Round 27

*Ch 1 (does not count as st), sc into same sp, [ch 3, sc into next ch sp], rep [.] 7 more times, ch 1, sk next dc and ch sp, ss into sc, ch 1, ss into next ch sp, rep *.* 5 more times, cut yarn and weave in ends (6 x [9 sc, 8 ch 3] shells, 12 ch, 12 ss).

Helpful hint: change to colour (B ) yarn and join using a slip stitch into the 1st back loop left unworked from Round 24 – make sure that you have the body facing front, and that you start exactly on the side of the body 9 (so below where we increased stitches in the first section of the body) otherwise your skirt will not lie straight.

Round 28

Ch 1 (does not count as st), dc into same st, dc into next 25 sts, 2 dc into next st, dc into next 26 sts, 2 dc into next st, ss into 1st dc (56 dc).

Round 29

Ch 1 (does not count as st), dc into same st, dc into next 26 sts, 2 dc into next st, dc into next 27 sts, 2 dc into next st, ss into 1st dc (58 dc).

Ch 1 (does not count as st), *2 sc into same st, sc into next 3 sts*, rep *.* 14 more times, ss into 1st st (75 sc).

Round 32

Ch 1 (does not count as st), hdc into same st, hdc into next 74 sts, ss into 1st st (75 hdc).

Rounds 33 – 34

Repeat round 32 (75 hdc), as the end of round 34 cut yarn leaving a long tail to use to stitch the bottom of the dress together.

Helpful hint: we will stitch the dress and add the legs in Part 6.

NECK

Using colour (B) join yarn to round 1 of the body with a slip stitch.

Helpful hint: join yarn at one side of the neck at the top of the opening (where we are going to attach the head).

Round 1

Ch 1 (does not count as a st), sc into same st, sc 31 along the neck ch, ss into 1st sc (32 sc).

Round 2

Ch 1 (does not count as a st), *sc2tog, sc into next 2 sts*, rep *.* 7 more times (24 sc), ss opening closed, cut yarn leaving a long tail to stitch the neck together when we join the head to the body at the end of the pattern.

BODY (Eclipse the black Cat)

Not stuffed

Using colour (B) yarn chain 22 and ss into the first chain to make a ring.

Helpful hint: the chain 1 at the beginning of each row does not count as a stitch, but it is important to make the chain 1, and you will see why as we go along – it makes a nice straight seam – make the chain 1 loose otherwise the seam will “pull” up on this side.
