PATTERN – BONNIE & CLYDE HORSE PART 1

MandMCrochetDesigns | Melly Teddy Ragdoll Bonnie and Clyde Horse #crochetforbabies #amagarumi #crochethorse #cal #freecrochetpattern #crochetalong #vinniscolours #cottonyarn #nikkim #yarnized #crochetlovey #crochetsofttoy #crochetanimal

HEAD – BOTH

Firmly stuffed (not overstuffed), worked in the round using colour (A) yarn for BOY and (B) yarn for GIRL.

Round 1

Ch 5, then make 2 sc into 2nd ch from hook, sc into next 2 ch, make 3 sc into last ch, now work down the opposite side of the ch, sc into next 2 ch, sc into the last ch (same sp you made the first 2 sc into), do not ss into 1st st as we are working in the round (10 sc).

Helpful hint: move the stitch marker and place in the last stitch of each row and this will help keep your stitch count correct and help with row counting, I have made this pattern more times than I can remember, and I still use a stitch marker otherwise I get my final stitch count incorrect, and because we are working quite tightly in the round, I weave my beginning tail in whist working round 2.

Round 2

Helpful hint: *inc* means to make two single crochet stitches into the same space thereby increasing your stitch count.

*Inc* into 1st st, sc into next 4 sts, *inc* into next st, sc into next 4 sts (12 sc).

Round 3

*Inc* into next 3 sts, sc into next 3 sts, *inc* into next 3 sts, sc into next 3 sts (18 sc).

Round 4

Sc into next st, *inc* into next 4 sts, sc into next 5 sts, *inc* into next 4 sts, sc into next 4 sts (26 sc).

Round 5

*Inc* into next st, sc into next 8 sts, *inc* into next st, sc into next 3 sts, *inc* into next st, sc into next 8 sts, *inc* into next st, sc into next 3 sts (30 sc).

Round 6

Sc into next 30 sts (30 sc).

Round 7

*2 Sc into next st, sc into next 4 sts*, rep *.* 5 more times (36 sc).

Round 8

Sc into next 36 sts (36 sc).

Round 9 – placing nostrils

Helpful hint: for the next few rows we are now going to work some stitches into the BLO so read carefully, and then later we will surface crochet the nostrils onto the nose.

Sc into next 10 sts, sc into BLO of next st, sc into next 2 sts, sc into BLO of next st, sc into next 6 sts, sc into BLO of next st, sc into next 2 sts, sc into BLO of next st, sc into next 12 sts (36 sc).

Round 10

Sc into next 10 sts, sc into BLO of next st, sc into next 2 sts, sc into BLO of next st, sc into next 6 sts, sc into BLO of next st, sc into next 2 sts, sc into BLO of next st, sc into next 12 sts (36 sc).

Round 11

Sc into next 11 sts, sc into BLO of next 2 sts, sc into next 8 sts, sc into BLO of next 2 sts, sc into next 13 sts (36 sc).

Helpful hint: the placement of the nostrils is finished – continue with the pattern, and we will surface crochet the crescent shapes later.

Helpful hint: change to colour (B) yarn for boy and continue in colour (B) yarn for girl.

Round 12

*2 Sc into next st, sc into next 5 sts*, rep *.* 5 more times (42 sc).

Round 13

Sc into next 42 sts (42 sc).

Round 14

*2 Sc into next st, sc into next 6 sts*, rep *.* 5 more times (48 sc).

Rounds 15 – 16

Sc into next 48 sts (48 sc).

*2 Sc into next st, sc into next 7 sts*, rep *.* 5 more times (54 sc).

Rounds 18 – 20

Sc into next 54 sts (54 sc).

Round 21

*2 Sc into next st, sc into next 8 sts*, rep *.* 5 more times (60 sc).

Round 22

Sc into next 60 sts (60 sc).

Rounds 23 – 31

Repeat Round 22 (60 sc).

Round 32

Helpful hint: I love using the invsc2tog technique so if you would like to learn how to do it, here is the link Invisible Single Crochet Two Together Photo Tutorial

*Invsc2tog, sc into next 8 sts*, rep *.* 5 more times (54 sc).

Round 33

*Invsc2tog, sc into next 7 sts*, rep *.* 5 more times (48 sc).

Round 34

*Invsc2tog, sc into next 6 sts*, rep *.* 5 more times (42 sc).

Round 35

*Invsc2tog, sc into next 5 sts*, rep *.* 5 more times (36 sc).

Helpful hint: if you are using safety eyes you can insert them between round 23 and round 25 approximately 17 stitches apart, in the front of the face and if you are using embroidery thread you can make the eyes whenever it works best for you.

Round 36

*Invsc2tog, sc into next 4 sts*, rep *.* 5 more times (30 sc).

Helpful hint: you can stuff the head now, it should be firm, but not overstuffed.

Round 37

*Invsc2tog, sc into next 3 sts*, rep *.* 5 more times (24 sc).

Round 38

*Invsc2tog, sc into next 2 sts*, rep *.* 5 more times (18 sc).

Round 39

*Invsc2tog, sc into next st*, rep *.* 5 more times (12 sc).

Helpful hint: add more filling if you think you need too.

Round 40

*Invsc2tog*, rep 5 more times (6 sc) cut yarn, ss into each sc and pull tight, cut a long tail, and use the tail to “pull” eyes together, and weave in ends.

Helpful hint: we will attach the head to the body in Part 6.

Nostrils

Make two, using colour (A) yarn for BOY and colour (B) yarn for GIRL, work into the front loop only (FLO).

Helpful hint: you will be working into the four exposed single crochet FLO for the nostrils, so forming little crescent shapes with single crochet stitches, work with the muzzle of the horse facing you.

Row 1

Make a standing sc into the 1st FLO at the edge of the crescent shape left by the exposed loops, then work 2 sc into next FLO (one row up), work 2 sc into next FLO, then make a sc into the last FLO, one row below, cut yarn, weave in ends (6 sc).

Repeat row 1 on the opposite side.

EARS – BOTH

Rounds 11 – 12

Sc into next 12 sts (12 sc), at the end of round 12, ss edge together (the reason for this is that the ears are not stuffed, and it looks neater when joining the ears to the head, cut yarn, leave long tail to attach to the head.

Helpful hint: we will attach the ears to the head in Part 6.
