Serina’s Ombre Crochet Blanket

Spread the love

Serina’s Ombre Crochet Blanket

Serina’s Ombre Crochet Blanket is an easy and fun to make crochet blanket – with a delicate repeat that allows you to make the blanket in any size, this pattern provides the instructions ranging from preemie to king.

I recently designed a blanket for my little niece, Hannah’s Unicorn Blanket, using this stitch work, but then was asked to make one for a friend, who loves blues and greys, and it looks so delicious in an ombre colour way, I thought that the blanket design could be used for anyone.  The delicate stitch work makes it lacy, with step by step instructions, it is an easy to make gift for a friend, for a baby shower gift, or even for yourself.

Repeat round 2

Repeat round 4

**[Ch 5 (counts as 1st dc and ch 2), dc into ch 2 corner], dc into next 4 sts, *dc into next st, dc into ch sp, dc into next dc*, rep until there are 4 sts left, dc into next 4 sts**, rep **.** 3 more times [replacing the ch 5 with a dc and a ch 2 for next 3 corners], cut yarn, nj, weave in ends.

Helpful hint: change colour now.

Repeat round 5

Using new colour and starting in any corner make a standing *[hdc, ch 2, hdc], fpdc around next 5 sts, bpdc around next sts until 5 remain, fpdc around next 5 sts*, rep *.* 3 more times, ss into  1st hdc, cut yarn weave in ends.

Helpful hint: to keep track of your stitches take note that the V st repeat increases by 5 with each repeat, so for example if you finish off at round 55 (which has 55 V st repeats) and want to continue, the next round with V sts must be 60 repeats of V’s, and the next round of V sts must be 65 repeats of V’s and so on.

There will always be 1 fpdc around each popcorn in the 3rd round of the repeat pattern and 5 fpdc on either side of the corner in the 5th round of the repeat pattern.

Repeat until the blanket is the desired length.
