PATTERN ELIAH ELLIE PART 6

BRINGING YOUR MELLY TEDDY RAGDOLL TO LIFE

Melly Teddy Ragdoll Eliah Ellie | MandMCrochetDesigns #amagarumi #crochetlovey #crochetforbabies #crochetelephant #mellyteddy #vinniscotton #nikkim

You have made all the different body parts and decoration, now to bring your Melly Teddy to life.

You do not need to follow these instructions exactly, it is just the way I like to put mine together, so is a suggestion only – the idea is to have FUN with the design, use your imagination and make yours unique.

Helpful hint: before you attach the arms etc to the body, lay the body flat making sure that the seam is lying to one side of the body and not at the back – the reason I designed the body like this is so that the seam is not as noticeable as when it is at the back.

ATTACHING LEGS & DUNGAREES

Stitch 3 toenails to the foot part of the leg, using the long tail left from making each nail – slip stitch around each little nail, cut yarn, weave in ends.

Lie the body flat, and place each leg in the centre of each pants bottom, using the long thread, carefully slip stitch the bottom of the pants, until you get to the where the leg is and then slip stitch through the pants and the leg.  Cut yarn and weave in ends.

Slip stitch the “hole” at the bottom of the dungarees, cut yarn and weave in ends.

Stitch the heart to the bib part of the dungaree, then using the long tails left at the end of the straps

Slip stitch the straps to the body, crossing the straps at the back, and attaching to the back of the pants (where the colour change was made – row 8).  When you get to the neck edge, slip stitch the straps on either side of the neck.

ATTACHING ARMS

Stitch 3 fingernails to the hand part of the arm, using the long tail left from making each nail – slip stitch around each little nail, cut yarn, weave in ends.  I placed my nails just above the row that we did the back loop only stitch in.

I slip stitch the arms to the top of the body over rows 2-4 of the top of the body.  Lay body flat and attach to the side, remember to have the seam from your arm “underneath” the arm so that it is hidden.  To make the join firm, I slip stitch along both sides of the arm, using the loop from the single crochet round, cut yarn, and weave in ends.

ATTACHING EARS, NOSE & BOW

Fold the top bit of the ear down towards the magic circle and slip stitch it along the outside, then attach the ear to the side of the head, between rows 11 and 25, and at an angel.  When you fold the top of the 2nd ear, remember to do it in the opposite direction so that your ear flaps both face the same way.

Using the long tail, wrap the yarn firmly around the centre of the bow a few times, then attach the bow to the folded flap of the one ear, cut yarn and weave in ends.

Lightly stuff the nose, and then slip stitch it to the face between the eyes, I place the top of the nose to the same row that I added the eyes.

ATTACHING THE PATCHES

I slip stitch the patch to the one leg, where the knee would be, and I slip stitch the 2nd patch to the bum, on the opposite side to the leg I attached the 1st patch too.  I then make large “stitches” over the patch to finish off the patched look 😊

ATTACHING THE HEAD

I like to add the head last, because this is the most important join, and this is the last thing you do before your Melly Teddy Ragdoll comes to life, this part is so exciting. I use a tailor’s marker to mark where I want my head to be placed, you can use stitch markers or pins, to help you.  Lie your body flat, and make sure that the middle of the head is exactly joined to the middle of the body, otherwise it will look funny, and lie skew.  Then using the long tail left from the ending of the head, slip stitch the body to the head, and to make it more secure I slip stitched the front and the back to the head.
